Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who has achieved great fame with the stories that she shares about her childhood heartbreak. Swift was a fan of the arts at a very young age, and quickly moved through roles in the children's theater to her first appearance before the crowd of a thousand. Swift started writing songs when she was 11. She performed The Star-Spangled Banner for a Philadelphia 76ers NBA game. Swift became inspired to compose her own songs by country music artists genre such as Shania Twain or the Dixie Chicks. Swift's family moved to Tennessee from Pennsylvania at the age of 13so she would have more time exploring the country music label in Nashville.
